Mere Brother Ki Dulhan – Movie Preview

After receiving a positive response for his role in the adult comedy “Delhi Belly”, actor Imran Khan returns to charm with his chocolate boy look in “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”, a light-hearted and twisted tale of love that releases Friday.

Produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, directed and written by debutant Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar in the lead roles.

Set in the milieu of an urban middle class family, the quirky comedy deals with two brothers – Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) and Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan). While Kush works as an assistant director in the film industry, his elder brother Luv works as an investment banker in London. A casanova by heart, Luv realises he wants to get married and settle down with an Indian girl.

So Kush is given the task of bride hunting for his brother and during this quest, he encounters some wacky and funny situations. Finally, he meets Dimple Dixit (Katrina), who likes to lead a life with no boundaries. She is also from London, but is a true Indian at heart.

Dimple is the craziest girl Kush has ever met. So, while everything is finalised and preparations are in full swing, Kush realises he has fallen in love with his brother’s ‘dulhan’. Then follows a string of comical and unpredictable events that promise to leave audiences in splits.

One would never believe that matrimonial advertisements can inspire anyone and become a medium to entertain, but in case of “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”, the director took a cue from matrimonial ads and wove his story around it.

Apart from this, Ali Abbas Zafar has also been inspired by Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s “Chupke Chupke” and “Gol Maal” while giving shaping up the movie. The film has been shot in Agra, Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Mumbai.

“Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” is the second Bollywood film of Ali Zafar, who had made his debut in Abhishek Sharma’s “Tere Bin Laden”, where he had played the Al Qaeda leader and received accolades for his role.

Both Imran and Katrina are currently on cloud nine after the success of their films “Delhi Belly” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” respectively.

This is the first time the two are paired together and their on-screen chemistry looks equally impeccable.

Sohail Sen, who has previously composed music for “What’s Your Raashee?”, has penned the music of the film. Not just this, Ali Zafar too has lent his voice to a song “Madhubala”, which has become quite a rage.

The film also has John Abraham in a friendly appearance.

For an upcoming episode of UTV Stars’ “Live My Life”, Katrina took her fan, 20-year-old Pooja Agarwal, out on a bike ride around Bandra.

The show gives one handpicked movie star fan an opportunity to enjoy the glamorous life of his or her favourite actor, for a day.

Katrina wanted to make the day extremely special and exciting for her fan.

John Abraham lifts a 150 kg bike

B-town hunk John Abraham took his passion for bikes to the next level when he lifted a motorbike weighing 150 kg for his upcoming film Force. The scene required the actor to lift the bike and throw it. The actor, who had beefed up for the film, insisted on doing the stunt himself without the use of any cables.
Producer Vipul Shah told Mid Day: "I was not on the sets the day John was shooting for the scene. When Nishikant called me to say he was planning to do it without a harness, I told him not to allow him to do the same as he could hurt his back or knee. But he was confident and insisted on performing it."

Film's action director Allan Amin told the tabloid: "John is a physical guy so the action was all high octane. We did use cables for certain sequences, but when it needed to be raw like the bike scene, he did it himself."

Although it took great effort to perform the difficult stunt, Abraham boy pulled it off superbly.

Sonia Gandhi being treated at US cancer centre: Sources

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi is in the US for an undisclosed medical treatment, the party said on Thursday. Gandhi placed her son Rahul and three others to oversee the country's oldest party during the two or three weeks she is expected to be away.

The Congress did not reveal the nature of 64-year-old Sonia Gandhi's illness but informed sources told IANS that she was being treated at the Memorail Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The hospital refused to confirm or deny that she was admitted there. The party also did not say when she left India. 

Congress chief spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi said Sonia would undergo surgery on Friday or Saturday, contradicting his own earlier statement that the operation had already been performed.

He said that Sonia Gandhi had formed a four-member group, including Rahul, a general secretary, to look after party affairs in her absence. Rahul is also, at present, accompanying his mother for the medical treatment abroad.

Besides Gandhi, the others in the group are long-time loyalists Defence Minister A.K. Antony, political secretary to Congress president, Ahmed Patel and Dwivedi himself.

'Sonia Gandhi has been recently diagnosed with a medical condition that requires surgery. On advice from her doctors, she has travelled abroad and is likely to be away for two to three weeks,' Dwivedi said here.

Congress sources said she had an abdomen-related ailment.

According to party sources, Gandhi was down with viral fever since Sunday and could not attend meetings of the Congress core committee.

Her last known public engagement was her 24-hour visit to Bangladesh from July 24.

Answering queries on Sonia Gandhi's health, Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said the party had already issued a statement and even public personalities were entitled to certain amount of privacy in medical issues.

'Even public personalities are entitled to certain amount of privacy in so far as the medical attention is concerned and I do hope that our friends in the media would bear that sensitivity in mind,' he said.

Asked if Rahul Gandhi's presence in the group was an indication of a bigger role for him in the organisation, Tewari said the statment made by Dwivedi did not need elaboration.

'I think there is a certain amount of circumspection and a certain amount of discretion and certain amount of sensitivity that needs to be exercised. As and when if there is any update, we will keep you informed,' he said.

To a question about choice of a cabinet minister in the group, Tewari said the Congress president has entrusted the duty of looking after the day to day affairs of the party to senior persons who have also served in the organisation and there is no need to offer any comment on the committee.

'As I said earlier, I do not think there is any need to comment further on a decision which the Congress president herself has taken,' he said.

Answering another question, Tewari said Rahul Gandhi was accompanying the Congress president.

'Shri Rahul Gandhi is with his mother and as and when there is any update with regard to his travel plans, we will keep you informed,' he said.

On Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi wishing Sonia Gandhi speedy recovery, Tewari said if somebody has wished her speedy recovery, there was no need to extrapolate it politically or otherwise.

A party leader said the Congress headquarters had received reports of prayer meetings and 'havans' conducted in different parts of the country, wishing Gandhi a speedy recovery.

First Look Of Sanjay Dutt In Agneepath Movie

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s look in the much-awaited remake of ‘Agneepath’ was revealed on his 52nd birthday today. “First Look of Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath! Await your comments,” filmmaker Karan Johar said on micro-blogging site twitter. Johar posted a link of Agneepath’s facebook page on twitter, which shows the ‘Khalnayak’s’ shaved head, besides his bulked up physique and tattoos over his arms.

Directed by Johar’s former assistant, Karan Malhotra, ‘Agneepath’, a remake of the 1990 Hindi film is reportedly radically different from the original film. The original ‘Agneepath’, directed by Mukul Anand, starred Amitabh, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa; and was produced by Yash Johar, Karan’s late father. Though the film failed commercially at the box-office, Bachchan’s performance was praised.
